AUS POSTCODE LOCATOR
AUS POSTCODE LOCATOR allows you to perform proximity based searches using Australian postcodes. By entering a postcode and a radius distance the script will return all postcodes that fall within the desired range. The distance between two postcodes can also be calculated. The class comes with a full AUSTRALIAN postcode database (SQL & CSV format) with coordinates (longitude, latitude) - the only such database available on the web. AUS POSTCODE LOCATOR can be utilised in a wide range of projects that draw upon proximity-based searches within Australia. AUS POSTCODE LOCATOR comes with PHP, ASP, VB.NET and Java classes to allow you to utilise this powerful database in your choice of programming language.
If the points of interest you are searching require more accuracy that a postcode match, you may want to consider AUS POSTCODE LOCATOR PRO.

How accurate is the database and how often is it updated?
The database is generated using official government-sourced data and processed using a series of proprietory scripts written by DreamscapeMedia. New postcodes are manually 'geocoded' to ensure the best accuracy is achieved.
The AUS POSTCODE LOCATOR database contains 3,331 postcodes with accurate postcode centroids values for each.
The database is reviewed every six months. Purchasers are notified of updates to the database via email and can purchase an update for $55 incl GST.
Please note that discretion should be used when considering to use postcodes to calculate nearby points of interest. 99% of Australia's population live in locations where postcodes provide an accurate method of plotting their approximate geographic location, however a handful of postcodes in rural Australia can span hundreds of kilometers, and can not be relied upon to calculate nearby points of interest. Please see this graphic to understand this visually. Searching using suburbs is a more accurate method of point of interest calculation (see Aus Suburb Database).
